On-the Water Training/Instruction
I've taught formal boater education courses in several states, first as a volunteer for the United States Power Squadrons, and then professionally for Boatwise, LLC.
I have also helped many new boaters, or experienced boaters moving up in size to become more familiar with their boat's handling characteristics.
Most of my clients have just wanted to learn how to dock their new boats safely and properly.
Others have called on me for on the water instruction for spouses how to handle their boats - a good idea in case the primary skipper beomes unable to function while out on the water.
I am especially pleased with the response to my Suddenly Skipper program, a classroom course for normally non-boater companions dealing with handling emergiencies should the operator become incapacitated.
An excellent way to become familiar with a new boat is to come along on an instructed delivery. Doing this, you use the time with an experienced skipper to learn about your boat and its various systems.
